I accompanied my sister and her two young sons to Chicago a few weeks ago. We took the train, saw Dan Zanes & Friends in concert, and took in some exhibits at the Field Museum. I took this photo of Sue the Tyrannosaurus from the balcony, then used a technique in Photoshop to make it look as if it were taken with an expensive tilt-shift lens. It's so fun -- I love how it turned out!
For me, now, the knitting and the photography go hand-in-hand. I have been photographing my knitting -- even the unknit, balled-up yarn, works-in-progress, books, needles, and tools -- for over five years. They are inseparable. Even as my photography began to take a different track, the knitting kept pace.
These hats will likely next be photographed on the head of a newborn.
I'm looking at ALL of my knitting a little differently... sweaters, scarves and shawls as wraps and blankets. Yum.
I just started a lacy scarf last night with this wonderful Japanese silk... I can definitely picture this wrapped round a sweet wee one.

This one's a little unconventional, but I absolutely love it... I love that you can read so much about Jen as a mother in her body language -- and I can relate to that. My babies may be flying the coop (and jumping out of airplanes -- Maddy went skydiving on Sunday!), but my identity is still very much defined by motherhood and I will always relate to mothers of young children.

The photo above is taken shooting down from the deck. I processed it using a technique that mimics the use of a "tilt-shift" lens -- making the subjects appear miniature and (sometimes) as if they're part of a model.
And this one. I knew at the moment of capture that I'd love it... and I do. It's all about stance, posture, body language, relationship, footwear... I especially love the discarded toy, but truth be told, it just wouldn't be the same without the garden hose! Heheh. Love it.
