After I smacked a dish with the rubber mallet a few times, I still would have pieces that were somtimes too big. I used a tile cutter to cut them into smaller pieces. I'd also try to shape pieces with the tile cutter, but that didn't always work as planned. It's kind of a pot-luck thing and the plan sometimes needed to be adjusted. It was time intensive, but very enjoyable. Just as when I'm working a jigsaw puzzle (which isn't often), I would work diligently and usually successfully in short spurts. Then I'd need to take a break! I was always drawn back, though (as I always am with jigsaw puzzles), rejuvenated and ready for another round.
